ABSTRACT The arrival and establishment of the bed bug Cimex lectularius L., 1755 in Magallanes Region (Chile) is reported. The present record is the southernmost for this species in America. The circumstances that provided for the species reaching this southern locality are discussed.

The recent expansion of Chilean recluse Loxosceles laeta (Nicolet) (Arachnida: Araneae) in Southern Patagonia

The recent expansion of the Chilean recluse Loxosceles laeta (Nicolet, 1849) in southern Patagonia is commented and discussed in the light of current global change. New records are provided from both

Resurgencia de la chinche de cama Cimex lectularius (Heteroptera: Cimicidae) en Argentina

The following study was conducted in order to determine whether bed bugs are resurging in Argentina, and the discovery of this urban pest in different cities of Argentina can now be confidently confirmed.

First Record of Aedes albifasciatus in Magallanes Region, Chile.

Aedes albifasciatus is known for transmitting western equine encephalomyelitis (WEE), a virus that can affect humans and animals. In this work, we record for the first time Ae. albifasciatus from the

Bed bugs and possible transmission of human pathogens: a systematic review

Bed bugs may contain “neutralizing factors” that attenuate pathogen virulence and, thereby, decrease the ability of bed bugs to transmit infectious disease.

Bed Bug (Hemiptera: Cimicidae) Attraction to Human Odors: Validation of a Two-Choice Olfactometer

It is shown that bed bugs can respond and orient towards human odors, independently of all other host cues, and the validated olfactometer should enable rapid and efficient evaluations of bed bug behavioral responses to semiochemicals.

Insecticide resistance and resistance mechanisms in bed bugs, Cimex spp. (Hemiptera: Cimicidae)

An insight into the knowledge essential for the development of both insecticide resistance management (IRM) and integrated pest management (IPM) strategies for successful bed bug management is provided.

Using Global and Regional Species Distribution Models (SDM) to Infer the Invasive Stage of Latrodectus geometricus (Araneae: Theridiidae) in the Americas

Using a combination of both global and regional niche models, it is possible to hypothesize the invasive phase of the species as well as the geographic space where these different phases occur and generate different hypotheses amenable to being tested in future studies.

Molecular and MALDI-TOF MS identification of swallow bugs Cimex hirundinis (Heteroptera: Cimicidae) and endosymbionts in France

The usefulness of MALDI-TOF MS in the rapid identification of C. hirundinis specimens and nymphs with minimal sample requirements is shown and a case of human infestation by swallow bugs in France is reported.

Insects found in birds nests from the Neotropical Region (except Argentina) and immigrant species of Neotropical origin in the Nearctic Region

The present contribution summarizes all insects known to occur in birds’ nests from the Neotropical Region (except for Argentina and the Antarctic Region of adjacent countries), updating Hicks’ catalogues for this part of the world.
