may have been in 1 6 14 that Marcantonio Bassetti traveled from northern Italy to Rome in the company of his fellow Veronese painters Alessandro Turchi and Pasquale Ottino. The first certain notice we have of him in the papal city, however, is a letter written on May 16, 1616, to his former mentor in Venice, Palma Giovane, whose advice he sorely missed.
