We study a quantum interacting spin system subject to an external drive and coupled to a thermal bath of vibrational modes, uncorrelated for different spins, serving as a model for dynamic nuclear polarization protocols. We show that even when the many-body eigenstates of the system are ergodic, a sufficiently strong coupling to the bath may effectively localize the spins due to many-body quantum Zeno effect. Our results provide an explanation of the breakdown of the thermal mixing regime…

Noninteracting fermionic systems with localized dissipation: Exact results in the hydrodynamic limit

We investigate the interplay between unitary dynamics after a quantum quench and localized dissipation in a noninteracting fermionic chain. In particular, we consider the effect of gain and loss

Dimensional hybridity in measurement-induced criticality.

Entanglement transitions in quantum dynamics present a novel class of phase transitions in non-equilibrium systems. When a many-body quantum system undergoes hybrid quantum dynamics, consisting of

Wetting critical behavior in the quantum Ising model within the Lindblad dissipative dynamics

We investigate the critical behavior, both in space and time, of the wetting interface within the coexistence region around the first-order phase transition of a fully-connected quantum Ising model in

Wetting critical behavior in the quantum Ising model within the framework of Lindblad dissipative dynamics

We investigate the critical behavior, both in space and time, of the wetting interface within the coexistence region around the first-order phase transition of a fully-connected quantum Ising model

Topological transitions in weakly monitored free fermions

We study a free fermion model where two sets of non-commuting non-projective measurements stabilize area-law entanglement scaling phases of distinct topological order. We show the presence of a

Tuning the nuclei-induced spin relaxation of localized electrons by the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects

Quantum measurement back action is fundamentally unavoidable when manipulating electron spins. Here we demonstrate that this back action can be efficiently exploited to tune the spin relaxation of

Disordered monitored free fermions

Scrambling of quantum information in unitary evolution can be hindered due to measurements and localization. Both these effects lead to pinning of the quantum mechanical wavefunction resulting in

Spin relaxation: is there anything new under the Sun?

Abstract. Spin relaxation has been at the core of many studies since the early days of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and the underlying theory worked out by its founding fathers. This

Diagnostics of entanglement dynamics in noisy and disordered spin chains via the measurement-induced steady-state entanglement transition

We utilize the concept of a measurement-induced entanglement transition to analyze the interplay and competition of processes that generate and destroy entanglement in a one-dimensional quantum spin

Non-Gaussian correlations imprinted by local dephasing in fermionic wires

We study the behavior of an extended fermionic wire coupled to a local stochastic field. Since the quantum jump operator is Hermitian and quadratic in fermionic operators, it renders the model
