We present BaseLase, an interactive laser projected focus + context floor display. In order to provide a transportable system that works in areas where there are no ceilings, we provide an integrated unit (1.3m height) that stands on the floor. One unsolved challenge for laser projectors is to cover large projection areas while providing high resolution at the same time. Our focus + context laser projector solves this problem. BaseLase can cover a large context area in low resolution, while…

Focus-Plus-Context Techniques for Picoprojection-Based Interaction
TLDR
This paper proposes methods that provide alternative contextual cues within a single projector and deploy the potential of zoom lenses to support a multilevel zooming approach, and looks into the correlation between pixel density, distance to the target, and projection size.
Using large-scale augmented floor surfaces for industrial applications and evaluation on perceived sizes
TLDR
Novel insights into human size perception using large-scale floor displays are presented, in particular in-depth evaluations of size judgment accuracy, precision, and task completion time.
Interactive Experiences in Public Spaces: A Novel Floor Display System Based on Luminous Modular Units
TLDR
The design of an interactive concrete floor display for public spaces is described, which is an expandable system of interconnected tiles, which control an array of RGB Light-Emitting Diodes based on user input.
The ASPECTA toolkit: affordable full coverage displays
TLDR
This work introduces ASPECTA, a hardware configuration and software toolkit that provide a low-cost and easy-to-use solution for creating full coverage systems and demonstrates how it can simplify configuration and development while still dramatically reducing the cost for creators of applications that take advantage of full-coverage displays.
Ubi-FX: Ubiquitous Effects with Multiple Pan-Tilt Projector and Camera Units for Entertainment
TLDR
The Ubi-FX system is described, a system that projects visual effects onto the environment and the player's body to enhance a video game and is achieved with compact pan-tilt units that contain a projector and stereo camera.
Exploring the Design of History-Enriched Floor Interfaces for Asynchronous Navigation Support
TLDR
This work focused on four design challenges: the overall visual representation, representation of multiple people, designing more prominent visualisations and the incorporation of non-identifying information.
Input, Output and Construction Methods for Custom Fabrication of Room-Scale Deployable Pneumatic Structures
TLDR
This work collectively tackle three main challenges that need to be solved for designing room-scale interactive deployable structures namely -- the input, output (actuation) and construction methods.
Smart bus stop made with interactive surfaces
TLDR
This is a video prototype of Smart Bus Stop which consists of interactive surfaces and the authors assume that this concept will be applied not only for buses but also for many types of mobility solutions (e.g. ride-hailing app pickup zone, autonomous vehicle pickup zone).
GLATUI: Non-intrusive Augmentation of Motion-based Interactions Using a GLDV
We present GLATUI, a system that non-intrusively augments the physical interaction between humans and everyday objects with rich expressions extracted directly from the motion. The proposed system
Polka: A Water-jet Printer for Painting on the Grounds
TLDR
The mechanism of this device, a device that draws letters and illustrations on large, flat surfaces by ejecting a volume of water from its nozzle, and how a user can take advantage of this new drawing tool is introduced.

Multitoe: high-precision interaction with back-projected floors based on high-resolution multi-touch input
TLDR
This work integrates high-resolution multitouch input into a back-projected floor that allows the floor to ignore users unless they interact explicitly, identify and track users based on their shoes, enable high-precision interaction, invoke menus, track heads, and allow users to control high-degree of freedom interactions using their feet.
Camera-less Smart Laser Projector
TLDR
The 'Smart Laser Projector' is a modified laser-based projector capable of displaying while simultaneously using the laser beam as a LIDAR probe gathering information about the projection surface, as well as fine texture and spectral reflectance.
GravitySpace: tracking users and their poses in a smart room using a pressure-sensing floor
TLDR
Pressure-based sensing on the floor offers four potential benefits over camera-based solutions: it provides consistent coverage of rooms wall-to-wall, is less susceptible to occlusion between users, allows for the use of simpler recognition algorithms, and intrudes less on users' privacy.
TapTiles: LED-based floor interaction
TLDR
Compared to initial expectations, denser LED spacing did not improve legibility or raise user preferences, but studies suggest that LED-based floor interaction can be legible and effective in a walk-up and use situation.
Ubiquitous cursor: a comparison of direct and indirect pointing feedback in multi-display environments
TLDR
The Ubiquitous Cursor system is developed, which uses a projector and a hemispherical mirror to completely cover the interior of a room with usable low-resolution pixels and allows direct feedback about the location of the cursor between displays, and adds to the understanding of the principles underlying targeting performance in MDEs.
PlayAnywhere: a compact interactive tabletop projection-vision system
TLDR
PlayAnywhere is introduced, a front-projected computer vision-based interactive table system which uses a new commercially available projection technology to obtain a compact, self-contained form factor and makes a number of contributions related to image processing techniques for front- Projection-vision table systems.
Moveable interactive projected displays using projector based tracking
TLDR
This paper presents a technique for projecting content onto moveable surfaces that adapts to the motion and location of the surface to simulate an active display using a projector based location tracking techinque.
Pinch-the-sky dome: freehand multi-point interactions with immersive omni-directional data
TLDR
Pinch-the-Sky Dome combines speech commands with freehand pinch gestures to provide a highly immersive and interactive experience to several users inside the dome, with a very wide field of view for each user.
Focus plus context screens: combining display technology with visualization techniques
TLDR
This paper presents a prototype that seamlessly integrates an LCD with a projection screen and demonstrates four applications that have been adapted so far and provide a novel approach to simultaneously display focus and context information.
