Homeostatic regulation of arterial pressure is maintained by arterial baroreceptors. Activation of these receptors results in an inhibition of sympathetic activity to the heart. It is known that angiotensin II in the nucleus tractus solitarii attenuates the baroreceptor reflex-evoked vagal bradycardia.
