Bacillus species are being more frequently recognized as pathogens in immunocompromised hosts or in patients with cancer and central venous catheters. Only nine cases of Bacillus licheniformis infection have been reported in the English-language literature since 1966. In a retrospective study we describe six patients and 17 episodes of B. licheniformis bacteremia over a 5-year span.
