We consider the supergravity backgrounds that correspond to supersymmetric Wilson line operators in the context of AdS/CFT correspondence. We study the gravitino and dilatino conditions of the IIB supergravity under the appropriate ansatz, and obtain some necessary conditions for a supergravity background that preserves the same symmetry as the supersymmetric Wilson lines. The supergravity solutions are characterized by continuous version of Maya diagrams. This diagram is related to the…

On gravitational description of Wilson lines

We study solutions of Type IIB supergravity, which describe the geometries dual to supersymmetric Wilson lines in = 4 super-Yang-Mills. We show that the solutions are uniquely specified by one

1 / 4 BPS Wilson Loop in β-deformed Theories

We consider general BPS Wilson loop operators in the N = 1 β-deformed supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and derive the boundary condition satisfied by the dual string worldsheet. The boundary

Calibrated surfaces and supersymmetric Wilson loops

We study the dual gravity description of supersymmetric Wilson loops whose expectation value is unity. They are described by calibrated surfaces that end on the boundary of anti de-Sitter space and

Spectral curves, emergent geometry, and bubbling solutions for Wilson loops

We study the supersymmetric circular Wilson loops of = 4 super Yang-Mills in large representations of the gauge group. In particular, we obtain the spectral curves of the matrix model which captures

M5-BRANES AND WILSON SURFACES

We investigate the M5-brane description of the Wilson surface operators in six-dimensional (2,0) superconformal field theory from AdS/CFT correspondence. We consider the Wilson surface operators in

Bubbling surface operators and S-duality

We construct smooth asymptotically \ads solutions of Type IIB supergravity corresponding to all the half-BPS surface operators in = 4 SYM. All the parameters labeling a half-BPS surface operator are

Semi-classical open string corrections and symmetric Wilson loops

In the AdS/CFT correspondence, an AdS2 × S2 D3-brane with electric flux in AdS5 × S5 spacetime corresponds to a circular Wilson loop in the symmetric representation or a multiply wound one in N = 4

Holographic Wilson loops

We show that all half-BPS Wilson loop operators in = 4 SYM – which are labeled by Young tableaus – have a gravitational dual description in terms of D5-branes or alternatively in terms of D3-branes

Supersymmetric Wilson loops on S**3.

This paper studies in great detail a family of supersymmetric Wilson loop operators in = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory we have recently found. For a generic curve on an S3 in space-time the

Wilson Loops as D 3-Branes

Abstract We prove that the half-BPS Wilson loop operator of N = 4 SYM in a symmetric representation of the gauge group has a bulk gravitational description in terms of a single D3-brane in AdS5×S, as

All-genus calculation of Wilson loops using D-branes

The standard prescription for calculating a Wilson loop in the AdS/CFT correspondence is by a string world-sheet ending along the loop at the boundary of AdS. For a multiply wrapped Wilson loop this

A harmonic family of dielectric flow solutions with maximal supersymmetry

We construct a new harmonic family: dielectric flow solutions with maximal supersymmetry in eleven-dimensional supergravity. These solutions are asymptotically AdS4 × S7, while in the infra-red the

Bubbling AdS space and 1/2 BPS geometries

We consider all 1/2 BPS excitations of AdS × S configurations in both type-IIB string theory and M-theory. In the dual field theories these excitations are described by free fermions. Configurations

Locally localized gravity

We study the fluctuation spectrum of linearized gravity around non-fine-tuned branes. We focus on the case of an AdS4 brane in AdS§. In this case, for small cosmological constant, the warp factor

Complex Matrix Model and Fermion Phase Space for Bubbling AdS Geometries

We study a relation between droplet configurations in the bubbling AdS geometries and a complex matrix model that describes the dynamics of a class of chiral primary operators in dual N=4 super Yang

A toy model for the AdS/CFT correspondence

We study the large-N gauged quantum mecchanics for a single hermitean matrix in the Harmonic oscillator potential well as a toy model for the AdS/CFT correspondence. We argue that the dual geometry

Open and closed string interpretation of SUSY CFT's on branes with boundaries

We consider certain supersymmetric configurations of intersecting branes and branes ending on branes and analyze the duality between their open and closed string interpretation. The examples we study

Wilson-'t Hooft operators in four-dimensional gauge theories and S-duality

We study operators in four-dimensional gauge theories which are localized on a straight line, create electric and magnetic flux, and in the UV limit break the conformal invariance in the minimal

Wilson loops in large N field theories

We propose a method to calculate the expectation values of an operator similar to the Wilson loop in the large $N$ limit of field theories. We consider
