The socket as the link between residual limb and prosthetic components is the crucial part of the prosthesis influencing the amputee’s acceptance considerably. In addition to protection from outside influences, the skin is responsible for regulating the body temperature. As parts of the skin are missing due to amputation, this functionality is minimized. This effect is increased by common liners consisting of silicone or equivalent materials, covering the residual limb surface. A new developed…

TLDR
The experimental results showed that this new prosthetic interface achieved more fitting time and better performance in comfort and functionality than the fixed frame-type socket and might be an alternative choice for transradial amputees.
Sockets for Limb Prostheses: A Review of Existing Technologies and Open Challenges
TLDR
The main parameters (displacements, stress, volume fluctuations and temperature) affecting the stump-socket interface and reducing the comfort/stability of limb prostheses are described and the technological solutions available to face an altered distribution of stresses on the residual limb tissues.
Thermal Conductivities of Commercially Available Prosthetic Materials
ABSTRACT Prosthetic liners and sockets play an important role in amputee patient rehabilitation. Current commercially available prosthetic liners and sockets insulate the residual limb, causing the
Test Rig Design and Preliminarily Assessment for a Transradial Socket
TLDR
This experimental work covers two main tests for assessment the transradial socket at different positions and planes that can predict when dislocation between the socket and residual limb will happen at any weight and plane.
Interface pressure between socket and residual limb in prosthesis with seal-in x5 and dermo liner during level ground, stairs and ramp walking
TLDR
The results will help the clinicians and prosthetic practitioners in selecting of prosthetic liners and will also help the clinician in the fabricating of a good comfortable socket for transtibial users.
Biomechanical design considerations for transradial prosthetic interface: A review

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Part H, Journal of engineering in medicine
  • 2016
Traditional function and comfort assessment of transradial prostheses pay scant attention to prosthetic interface. With better understanding of the biomechanics of prosthetic interface comes better
Sensing and actuation technologies for smart socket prostheses
TLDR
This review paper summarizes the various sensing and actuation solutions that have been proposed for improving socket performance and for realizing next-generation socket prostheses.
Comparative Study between Dermo, Pelite, and Seal-In X5 Liners: Effect on Patient's Satisfaction and Perceived Problems
TLDR
There is good indication to believe that Dermo liner might be a good choice for transtibial users and might help the clinicians and prosthetic practitioners in selection criteria of prosthetic liners.
Bacterial Adhesion on Prosthetic and Orthotic Material Surfaces
TLDR
The bacterial adhesion extent increases with the increasing surface roughness, and smaller deviations of this rule are the result of the surface’s hydrophobicity and charge.
