BRASSICACEAE PHYLOGENY AND TRICHOME EVOLUTION 1
@inproceedings{Beilstein2006BRASSICACEAEPA, title={BRASSICACEAE PHYLOGENY AND TRICHOME EVOLUTION 1}, author={Mark A. Beilstein and Ihsan A. Al‐Shehbaz and Elizabeth A. Kellogg}, year={2006} }
To estimate the evolutionary history of the mustard family (Brassicaceae or Cruciferae), we sampled 113 species, representing 101 of the roughly 350 genera and 17 of the 19 tribes of the family, for the chloroplast gene ndhF. The included accessions increase the number of genera sampled over previous phylogenetic studies by four-fold. Using parsimony, likelihood, and Bayesian methods, we reconstructed the phylogeny of the gene and used the Shimodaira–Hasegawa test (S–H test) to compare the…

Phylogeny and Trichome Evolution in the Plant Family Brassicaceae
- Biology
- 2007
To estimate the evolutionary history of the mustard family, 113 species were sampled, representing 101 of the roughly 350 genera and 17 of the 19 tribes of the family, for the chloroplast gene ndhF and the Shimodaira–Hasegawa test (S-H test) was used to examine the utility of trichome branching patterns for describing monophyletic groups in the ndhf phylogeny.
Phylogeny of the Stachys coccinea (Lamiaceae) Complex Based on Molecular and Morphological Data

Molecular Phylogenetics and Taxonomy of the Genus Thysanocarpus (Brassicaceae)
- Biology
- 2010
The relationships and taxonomy of the genus Thysanocarpus is reassessed based on molecular phylogenetic analyses of nuclear ribosomal and chloroplast sequences and a critical re-examination of morphology and nomenclatural types, but no illuminating phylogenetic structure is found within the tribe Thelypodieae.
Zuloagocardamum (Brassicaceae: Thelypodieae) a New Genus from the Andes Highlands of Northern Argentina
- Biology
- 2014
A new genus and species of Brassicaceae from fujuy Province in Argentina, Zuloagocardamum jujuyensis is described and illustrated, and its phylogenetic relationships to nearest relatives are demonstrated.
The structure of leaf trichomes in Proteaceae: taxonomic value, ecology and development
- Biology
- 2019
Plant trichomes have many functions including interactions with ecological factors such as solar radiance, drought and predators, and have evolved certain adaptations to these types of habitats, resulting in special trichome structure and density.

An overview on the various biogeographic and phylogeographic studies using various molecular markers and methodological approaches to analyse them is presented, concentrating on studies done with representatives of the Brassicaceae family.
Molecular Systematic of Some Brassicaceae Taxa in Egypt Based on Electrophoretic Isoenzymes Pattern and RAPD Markers
- Biology
- 2009
Molecular systematic for twenty two taxa belonging to 9 tribes of Brassicaceae in Egypt was studied by using electrophoretic pattern of three isoenzymes and DNA (RAPD) markers to show that esterase and acid phosphatase could be considered as positive markers while, peroxidase was detected as a negative marker.

Phylogeny of Sisymbrium (Brassicaceae) based on ITS sequences of nuclear ribosomal DNA
- Biology
- 2002
Using sequence data from the internal transcribed spacers of nuclear ribosomal DNA and the 5.8S rRNA gene, this work examined the evolutionary relationships of Old and New World Sisymbrium species with its segregate genera and the validity of O.E. Schulz's classical sectional treatment of SisyMBrium.
Evaluation of Draba oligosperma, D. pectinipila, and D. juniperina complex (Cruciferae)

- 1983
A proposal to give Draba pectinipila Rollins protection under the Endangered Species Act prompted extensive field studies on this and two closely related taxa, which clarified the status of these three taxa.
