The authors show that many three and five-dimensional superconformal theories can be classified by the spectrum of massive supersymmetric (BPS) states that arise in consistent deformations of those theories. To demonstrate this the authors compute the full superconformal index in the original theories by means of counting the BPS states in the deformed ones.

Instanton operators and symmetry enhancement in 5d supersymmetric gauge theories

Supersymmetric gauge theories in five dimensions often exhibit less symmetry than the ultraviolet fixed points from which they flow. The fixed points might have larger flavor symmetry or they might

Superconformal partition functions and non-perturbative topological strings

A bstractWe propose a non-perturbative definition for refined topological strings. This can be used to compute the partition function of superconformal theories in 5 dimensions on squashed S5 and the

Discrete θ and the 5d superconformal index

A bstract5d Yang-Mills theory with an Sp(N) gauge group admits a discrete analog of the θ parameter. We describe the origin of this parameter in $ \mathcal{N} $ = 1 theories from Type I’ string

The NS limit of the 5D Superconformal Index

We consider the Nekrasov-Shatashvili (NS) limit of the five-dimensional superconformal index and propose a novel prescription for selecting the finite contributions. Applying the latter to various

Holomorphic Blocks for 3d Non-abelian Partition Functions

The most recent studies on the supersymmetric localization reveal many non-trivial features of supersymmetric field theories in diverse dimensions, and 3d gauge theory provides a typical example. It

A bstractWe present a number of investigations of 5d $ \mathcal{N} $ = 1 supersymmetric gauge theories that make use of 5-brane web constructions and the 5d superconformal index. These include an

Evidence for a non-supersymmetric 5d CFT from deformations of 5d SU(2) SYM

We study supersymmetry breaking deformations of the N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1 5d fixed point known as E 1 , the UV completion of SU(2) super-Yang-Mills. The phases of the non- supersymmetric theory can

Generalized Superconformal Index for Three Dimensional Field Theories

We introduce a generalization of the S^2 × S^1 superconformal index where background gauge fields with magnetic flux are coupled to the global symmetries of the theory. This allows one to gauge a
