Activating the sintering of PM-steels by addition of boron is an interesting approach to reach high density by sintering at acceptable temperatures. Usually boron is added as ferroboron, which melts and allows activated sintering. Since ferroboron is known to agglomerate during mixing, which effect results in unsatisfactory density distribution, in this work alternative boron sources such as elemental boron, h-boron nitride, and B B 4C have been investigated.
