During the development of the rat hippocampus, both gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)(B) autoreceptors and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) play important roles in the formation of GABAergic synapses as well as in the GABA(A) receptor-mediated transmissions.
