The retrograde horseradish peroxidase technique was used to: (1) identify and assess the overall morphology of large neurons in the ventrolateral portion (VL) of rat trigeminal nucleus oralis projecting to cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral levels of the spinal cord; and (2) characterize the synaptic endings terminating on their dendrites.
