We present an axiomatization of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics for a system with an arbitrary number of components. The interpretation of our system of axioms is realistic and objective. The EPR paradox and its relation to realism is discussed in this framework. It is shown that there is no contradiction between realism and recent experimental results.

Axiomatic Foundations of Galilean Quantum Field Theories

A realistic axiomatic formulation of Galilean Quantum Field Theories is presented, from which the most important theorems of the theory can be deduced. In comparison with others formulations, the

Interpretation Misunderstandings about Elementary Quantum Mechanics

Quantum Mechanics is a fundamental physical theory about atomic-scale processes. It was built between 1920 and 1940 by the most distinguished physicists of that time. The accordance between the

Quantum Objects

In this paper, we suggest an alternative interpretation for the quantum state vector, which, by considering temporal parts for physical objects, aims to give an intelligible account of measurement

Philosophical Problems of Quantum Mechanics

Quantum mechanics refers to quantum systems and their environment. The theory does not include consciousness, human subjects, or detectors. The interaction of quantum systems with detectors is the

Conceptual diagrams in Quantum Mechanics

Quantum Mechanics (QM) stands alone as a (very) successful physical theory, but the meaning of its variables and the status of many quantities in the mathematical formalism is obscure. This unique

Exact Philosophy of Space-Time ∗

Starting from Bunge’s (1977) scientific ontology, we expose a materialistic relational theory of space-time, that carries out the program initiated by Leibniz, and provides a protophysical basis

Exact Philosophy of Space-Time

From Change to Spacetime: An Eleatic Journey

I present a formal ontological theory where the basic building blocks of the world can be either things or events. In any case, the result is a Parmenidean worldview where change is not a global

A Realist Analysis of Six Controversial Quantum Issues

This essay provides a philosophically realistic analysis of six phenomena central to the authors' current confusion: quantization, field-particle duality, superposition, entanglement, nonlocality, and measurement, which concurs with the scientific paradigm as it has been known since Copernicus.

Axiomatic foundations of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics: A realistic approach

A realistic axiomatic formulation of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics for a single microsystem with spin is presented, from which the most important theorems of the theory can be deduced. In

On the Problem of Hidden Variables in Quantum Mechanics

The demonstrations of von Neumann and others, that quantum mechanics does not permit a hidden variable interpretation, are reconsidered. It is shown that their essential axioms are unreasonable. It

The Quantum Theory

IN a lecture on the quantum theory it might be thought fitting to commence with a clear explanation of the purpose, nature, and scope of the subject; but an attempt to answer briefly the question,

Bell's theorem. Experimental tests and implications

Bell's theorem represents a significant advance in understanding the conceptual foundations of quantum mechanics. The theorem shows that essentially all local theories of natural phenomena that are

"Relative State" Formulation of Quantum Mechanics

The task of quantizing general relativity raises serious questions about the meaning of the present formulation and interpretation of quantum mechanics when applied to so fundamental a structure as

Consistent interpretations of quantum mechanics

Within the last decade, significant progress has been made towards a consistent and complete reformulation of the Copenhagen interpretation (an interpretation consisting in a formulation of the

Can Quantum-Mechanical Description of Physical Reality Be Considered Complete?

Consideration of the problem of making predictions concerning a system on the basis of measurements made on another system that had previously interacted with it leads to the result that one is led to conclude that the description of reality as given by a wave function is not complete.

Consistent histories and the interpretation of quantum mechanics

The usual formula for transition probabilities in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics is generalized to yield conditional probabilities for selected sequences of events at several different times,

Galilei Group and Nonrelativistic Quantum Mechanics

This paper is devoted to the study of the Galilei group and its representations. The Galilei group presents a certain number of essential differences with respect to the Poincare group. As Bargmann

Experimental Tests of Realistic Local Theories via Bell's Theorem

We have measured the linear polarization correlation of the photons emitted in a radiative atomic cascade of calcium. A high-efficiency source provided an improved statistical accuracy and an ability
