Abstract We study the existence of stable axially and spherically symmetric plasma structures on the basis of the new nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) accounting for non-local electron nonlinearities. The numerical solutions of NLSE having the form of spatial solitions are obtained and their stability is analyzed. We discuss the possible application of the obtained results to the theoretical description of natural plasmoids in the atmosphere.
Stable Langmuir solitons in plasma with diatomic ions
Abstract. We study stable axially and spherically symmetric spatial solitons in plasma with diatomic ions. The stability of a soliton against collapse is provided by the interaction of induced

We consider the effective interaction between electrons owing to the exchange of virtual acoustic waves in a low-temperature plasma. Electrons are supposed to participate in rapid radial
Stable spatial Langmuir solitons as a model of long-lived atmospheric plasma structures
I study stable spatial Langmuir solitons in plasma based on nonlinear radial oscillations of charged particles. I discuss two situations when a Langmuir soliton can be stable. In the former case the
Null Poynting vector electromagnetic torus
Maxwell equations in free space are solved for a standing wave torus configuration under axisymmetry, which provides a mathematical support to the microwave cavity hypothesis of ball lightning. With

Ball lightning with the nonrelativistic electrons of the core
The lifetimes, volume densities of energy, electron and ion densities and other parameters of ball lightning cores with the nonrelativistic electrons are estimated. The model according to which the

Modulational instability, solitons and beam propagation in spatially nonlocal nonlinear media
We present an overview of recent advances in the understanding of optical beams in nonlinear media with a spatially nonlocal nonlinear response. We discuss the impact of nonlocality on the

Nonlinear oscillations in a warm plasma.
Nonlinear electron plasma oscillations in a warm plasma are studied by use of Lagrangean coordinates. Without recourse to amplitude expansion, the electron density is obtained as an explicit function
Nonlinear evolution of electron-beam-plasma interactions
The nonlinear evolution of the electron‐beam–plasma instability is investigated experimentally in two stages in a large, uniform, and unmagnetized plasma. In the initial stage, the beam‐driven,
