In this paper, connections are uncovered between the averaged weak (AWEC) and averaged null (ANEC) energy conditions, and quantum inequality restrictions (uncertainty principle-type inequalities) on negative energy. In twoand four-dimensional Minkowski spacetime, we examine quantized, free massless, minimally-coupled scalar fields .
