Abstract A combination of automated solid-phase extraction (SPE) and subsequent two-step derivatisation has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of basic drugs of abuse and cocaine metabolites in serum samples. Substances included in this procedure are morphine, codeine, methadone, cocaine, benzoylecgonine, methylecgonine, amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, MDEA and MDA. SPE with mixed-mode cartridges (RP-C8 and cation-exchange) was fully automated with a Zymark RapidTrace SPE robot…

Comprehensive automation of the solid phase extraction gas chromatographic mass spectrometric analysis (SPE-GC/MS) of opioids, cocaine, and metabolites from serum and other matrices

A comprehensively automated method was developed from a validated, partly automated routine method proving that the analytical results are equivalent even near the limits of quantification (low ng/ml range).

Determination of basic drugs of abuse in human serum by online extraction and LC–MS/MS

A new quantitation method for the determination of drugs of abuse in serum by using online extraction coupled to liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry–MS has been developed and was used to quantify basic drugs in samples “from driving under the influence of drugs” cases.

Development and validation of a solid-phase extraction gas chromatography–mass spectrometry method for the simultaneous quantification of methadone, heroin, cocaine and metabolites in sweat

A sensitive and specific method is presented to simultaneously quantify methadone, heroin, cocaine and metabolites in sweat, offering effective monitoring of drug exposure during drug treatment, workplace and criminal justice monitoring programs.

Simple and rapid analysis of four amphetamines in human whole blood and urine using liquid–liquid extraction without evaporation/derivatization and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry

We developed a simple and rapid analysis method for the determination of four amphetamines in human whole blood and urine using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). During the course of

Online sample concentration and analysis of drugs of abuse in human urine by micelle to solvent stacking in capillary zone electrophoresis

A sensitive and rapid CZE‐UV method was developed to determine drugs and their metabolites’ presence in human urine and provides an increase of sensitivity (39‐ to 55‐fold enhancement factor).

Screening and semiquantitative analysis of drugs and drugs of abuse in human serum samples using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

The GC-MS method presented here is allowing screening, identification and semiquantification of the most commonly encountered drugs and drugs of abuse in human serum and can be successfully applied to analysis of real samples from clinical and forensic toxicology cases.

Screening and confirmation of 62 drugs of abuse and metabolites in urine by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry.

An ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography--quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry method for the screening and confirmation of 62 drugs of abuse and their metabolites in urine was developed and the results were compared with the immunoassay method.
