Autoimmune abnormalities, as well as viral infection and genetic abnormalities, appear to be major predisposing factors for dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Abnormalities of cell-mediated immunity are mainly involved in the onset of cardiomyopathy secondary to myocarditis.
