The ductus deferens smooth muscle tumor cell line (DDT1MF-2) expresses c-sis proto-oncogene poly A+ RNA transcripts which are thought to encode at least one subunit of the potent mitogen platelet derived growth factor (PDGF). We have previously demonstrated that glucocorticoids block DDT1MF-2 cells in G0/G1 stage of the cell cycle, and that exogenously applied PDGF reinitiates cell cycle progression.
