Image-guided drawing can compensate for the lack of skills but often requires a significant number of repetitive strokes to create textures. Existing automatic stroke synthesis methods are usually limited to predefined styles or require indirect manipulation that may break the spontaneous flow of drawing. We present a method to autocomplete repetitive short strokes during users’ normal drawing process. Users can draw over a reference image as usual. At the same time, our system silently…

Combining sketch and tone for pencil drawing production
TLDR
A new system to produce pencil drawing from natural images is proposed, which establishes a style that artists use to understand visual data and draw them, and lets the results contain rich and well-ordered lines to vividly express the original scene.
Autocomplete painting repetitions
TLDR
This work presents an interactive digital painting system that auto-completes tedious repetitions while preserving nuanced variations and maintaining natural flows and can be considered as the painting analogy of auto- completes in common typing and IDE systems.
Im2Pencil: Controllable Pencil Illustration From Photographs
TLDR
A two-branch model that learns separate filters for generating sketchy outlines and tonal shading from a collection of pencil drawings and creates different pencil styles in a user-controllable manner is developed.
Continuous curve textures
TLDR
This work proposes an example-based method to synthesize continuous curve patterns from exemplars to enhance output quality and presents an autocomplete user interface to facilitate interactive creation and iterative editing.
DrawMyPhoto: Assisting Novices in Drawing from Photographs
TLDR
DrawMyPhoto is an interactive system that can assist a drawing novice in producing a quality drawing by automatically parsing a photograph in to a step-by-step drawing tutorial, and offers novel real-time feedback on pressure and tilt, along with grip suggestions as the user completes the tutorial.
Intelligent scissors for image composition
TLDR
Intelligent Sc scissors allows objects within digital images to be extracted quickly and accurately using simple gesture motions with a mouse, and allows creation of convincing compositions from existing images while dramatically increasing the speed and precision with which objects can be extracted.
Autocomplete 3D sculpting
TLDR
The key idea is to consider how a model is authored via dynamic workflows in addition to what is shaped in static geometry to allow more accurate analysis of user intentions and more general synthesis of shape structures than prior workflow or geometry methods, such as large overlapping deformations.
Handwriting beautification using token means
TLDR
This paper proposes an efficient real-time method for finding matching sets of stroke samples called tokens in a potentially large database of writings from a user, and refine the user's most recently written strokes by averaging them with the matching tokens.
DrawFromDrawings: 2D Drawing Assistance via Stroke Interpolation with a Sketch Database
TLDR
DrawFromDrawings enables users to retrieve and refer to a sketch image stored in a database and provides them with various novel strokes as suggestive or deformation feedback, which enabled drawers to develop and render their ideas using their own stroke style.
Interactive Hatching and Stippling by Example
TLDR
A system that lets a designer interactively draw patterns of strokes in the picture plane, then guide the synthesis of similar patterns over new picture regions that allows the control of attributes and scale-dependent reproduction of the synthesized patterns.
