grown on a synthetic medium. The strain was originally isolated from a fruiting body of Crepidotus sp. collected in the Picea-fovQSt near Radison (Quebec, Canada). Aureobasidium sp. forms smooth colonies with a dark brown colour covered with slimy masses of conidia on malt agar. The mycelium displays vegetative hyphae of approximately 2.5 //m width. The conidiogenous hyphae are often constricted at the septa with up to 5 /im length. The blastoconidia are hyaline, slender cylindrical to

Interestingly, these drugs are neither fungistatic nor fungicidal at the concentrations applied, and Laccaridione B may represent a promising novel type of antimycotic drug – targeting virulence factors without killing the yeast.

Using pulsating electromagnetic fields (50 Hz) one is able to cause necrosis itself and this effect is strengthened in the presence of quinoid anthracyclines and actinomycin-C, which will be of advantage for future development as an adjuvant therapy.

The concise synthesis of the lichen-derived antitumor agent hybocarpone and its analogs is described and it was shown that the first step to tetrahydrofuran features is the bridging hindered S*,S* and R* carbon-carbon bonds of the molecules.
