TNF-α is thought to be a key pro-inflammatory cytokine in T cell-mediated autoimmune diseases, particularly in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and multiple sclerosis (MS). Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) serves as an animal model for MS.
