South Africa has an exceptionally high incidence of traumatic brain injury in its paediatric population but very little systematic research has been conducted on the outcome of such injury. A number of socio demographic variables influence the mechanism of injury as well as its management. This paper reports on a study documenting the educational and audiological outcomes of a group of 100 subjects who sustained their injuries prior to the age of 12 years.
