Attitudes of Medical Students Toward Psychiatry *

Abstract

The present paper attempts to investigate two relat-ed sets of problems. The first problem deals with the attitudes of medical students toward psychiatry and is of some general interest for all psychiatrists. The second problem deals with the students' evaluation of the psychiatric teaching at the Yale University School of Medicine. Both problems are approached by means of questionnaires and interviews as they have been developed and used in the growing field of opinion research. The assets and handicaps of these 'methods will be pointed out in connection with the results which the investigation yielded. This study is regarded as a preliminary investigation.
