We present a brief survey of the works devoted to the investigation of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, i.e., of the quasiperiodic variations of sea-surface temperature in the North Atlantic with typical time scales of 50–100 yr. This oscillation is a manifestation of the natural variability in the ocean-atmosphere system. The characteristic scale of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation is determined by the speed of the meridional oceanic circulation in the North Atlantic. The analyzed…
Effect of large-scale modes of total variability of the atmosphere and ocean in the Atlantic-European region on the climate of Belarus
We have established the relationships of quasicyclic components in changes of air temperature and precipitation in Belarus with large-scale modes of general variability of the atmosphere and ocean in
Low-frequency variability of storms in the northern Black Sea and associated processes in the ocean–atmosphere system
Monthly anomalies of stormy wind–wave heights and return periods are evaluated using secular routine observations in the coastal zone of the northern Black Sea. It is shown that wind–wave anomalies
Thermohaline Structure of Waters in the North Atlantic in Different Phases of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation
The meridional structure of climatic trends and anomalies of potential temperature and salinity in the North Atlantic waters in different periods of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) in
Winter-spring cyclonic variability in the Mediterranean-Black Sea region associated with global processes in the ocean-atmosphere system
TLDR
Using a new approach to study ENSO manifestations based on El Nino classification, correlation coefficients between characteristics of cyclones and Southern Oscillation index (SOI) increase at least twice.
Multidecadal Variability of Hydro-Thermodynamic Characteristics and Heat Fluxes in North Atlantic
The article describes a manifestation of Atlantic multidecadal oscillation (AMO) in the variability of hydro-thermodynamic characteristics and ocean surface heat fluxes in North Atlantic. It is shown
Multidecadal-to-centennial SST variability in the MPI-ESM simulation ensemble for the last millennium
We assess the responses of North Atlantic, North Pacific, and tropical Indian Ocean Sea Surface Temperatures (SSTs) to natural forcing and their linkage to simulated global surface temperature (GST)
Methods of Analyzing Nonstationary Variability of the Black Sea Wave Climate
Based on the data of Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS) Program of the Black Sea waves in 1950– 2007, the wave climate variability and its relation to the main climatic indices is analyzed by the example
Variability of the North Atlantic Thermohaline Circulation in Different Phases of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation from Ocean Objective Analyses and Reanalyses
Abstract Zonally averaged characteristics of the North Atlantic (NA) thermohaline circulation are investigated in different phases of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) index over the past

North Atlantic Oscillation: Description, Mechanisms, and Influence on the Eurasian Climate
The present work is devoted to the characteristic of the North-Atlantic Oscillation and the analysis of the state-of-the-art of this problem. In the survey section of the work, we deal with the
North Atlantic Interdecadal Variability: Oceanic response to the North Atlantic Oscillation (1865-1997)
Abstract In contrast to the atmosphere, knowledge about interdecadal variability of the North Atlantic circulation is relatively restricted. It is the objective of this study to contribute to
On the Statistical Characteristics of the North-Atlantic Oscillation
By using archival monthly data for 100 yr, we analyze the statistical structure of time series characterizing the variability of the Azores High and Iceland Low. We show that there exists a long-term

The aim of this paper is to identify the physical mechanism of interdecadal variability in simulations of the North Atlantic Ocean circulation with the Modular Ocean Model of the Geophysical Fluid
Interdecadal Variations in North Atlantic Sea Surface Temperature and Associated Atmospheric Conditions
Abstract Evidence is presented for a distinct Pattern Of ocean-atmosphere relationship associated with interdecadal variability in the North Atlantic region. Using a century of surface marine

Abstract A fully coupled ocean-atmosphere model is shown to have irregular oscillations of the thermohaline circulation in the North Atlantic Ocean with a time scale of approximately 50 years. The
Influence of the Atlantic Subpolar Gyre on the Thermohaline Circulation
TLDR
The salinity of the Atlantic Inflow is tightly linked to the dynamics of the North Atlantic subpolar gyre circulation and its influence on the salinity are taken into account.
