We construct a theory of real scalar fields that interpolates between two different theories: a Lee–Wick theory with N propagator poles, including N − 1 Lee–Wick partners, and a nonlocal infinite-derivative theory with kinetic terms modified by an entire function of derivatives with only one propagator pole. Since the latter description arises when taking the N → ∞ limit, we refer to the theory as “asymptotically nonlocal.” Introducing an auxiliary-field formulation of the theory allows one to…

Asymptotic nonlocality in non-Abelian gauge theories

Abstract Asymptotically nonlocal field theories represent a sequence of higher-derivative theories whose limit point is a ghost-free, infinite-derivative theory. Here, we extend previous work on pure

Asymptotic nonlocality in gauge theories

Abstract Asymptotically nonlocal field theories represent a sequence of higher-derivative theories whose limit point is a ghost-free, infinite-derivative theory. Here we extend this framework,

Re-normalisable Non-local Quark-Gluon Interaction: Mass Gap, Chiral Symmetry Breaking&Scale Invariance

We derive a Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model from a non-local gauge theory and show that it has confining properties at low energies. In particular, we present an extended approach to non-local QCD

Asymptotically nonlocal gravity

: Asymptotically nonlocal field theories interpolate between Lee-Wick theories with multiple propagator poles, and ghost-free nonlocal theories. Previous work on asymptotically nonlocal scalar,

Fate of the false vacuum in string-inspired nonlocal field theory

In this article, we study Coleman bounce in weakly nonlocal theories which are motivated from string field theory. The kinetic term is extended via an infinite series of high-order derivatives, which

Shadow Extra Dimensions&Fuzzy Branes with an Exorcized Spectrum

Particle physics models with extra dimensions of space (EDS’s) and branes allow to shed new light on naturalness of the electroweak and flavor sectors, with a rich TeV scale phenomenology. Usually,

Shadow Extra Dimension & Fuzzy Branes via Exorcized Infinite Derivative Field Theory

Particle physics models with extra dimensions of space (EDS's) and branes are very interesting extensions beyond the standard model (BSM), allowing to shed new light on electroweak and flavor

Transmutation of nonlocal scale in infinite derivative field theories

In this paper we will show an ultraviolet-infrared connection for ghost-free infinite derivative field theories where the Lagrangians are made up of exponentials of entire functions. In particular,

Proposal for field M-theory

We construct a ultraviolet completion of the bosonic sector of 11-dimensional supergravity motivated by string field theory. We start from a general class of theories characterized by an entire

Super-renormalizable Quantum Gravity

In this paper we study perturbatively an extension of the Stelle higher derivative gravity involving an infinite number of derivative terms. We know that the usual quadratic action is renormalizable

Unitarity and microscopic acausality in a nonlocal theory

We consider unitarity and causality in a higher-derivative theory of infinite order, where propagators fall off more quickly in the ultraviolet due to the presence of a transcendental entire function

Superrenormalizable gauge and gravitational theories

We investigate 4-dim gauge theories and gravitational theories with nonpolynomial actions containing an infinite series in covariant derivatives of the fields representing the expansion of a

Nonlocal gravity and the diffusion equation

We propose a nonlocal scalar-tensor model of gravity with pseudodifferential operators inspired by the effective action of p-adic string and string field theory on flat spacetime. An infinite number

A new formulation of Lee-Wick quantum field theory

A bstractThe Lee-Wick models are higher-derivative theories that are claimed to be unitary thanks to a peculiar cancelation mechanism. In this paper, we provide a new formulation of the models, to

Nonlocal gauge theories

Nonlocal gauge theories, including gravitation, are considered. It is shown that to give a meaning to /gamma//sub 5/-anomalous theories it is sufficient to introduce an additional nonlocal

Renormalization and unitarity in higher derivative and nonlocal gravity theories

We review and discuss higher derivative and nonlocal theories of quantum gravity focusing on their UV and unitarity properties. We first consider the general fourth-order gravitational action, then
