In this work, we focus on the ergodic sum rate in the downlink of a single-cell large-scale multi-user MIMO system in which the base station employs N antennas to communicate with K single-antenna user equipments. A regularized zero-forcing (RZF) scheme is used for precoding under the assumption that each link forms a spatially correlated MIMO Rician fading channel. The analysis is conducted assuming N and K grow large with a non trivial ratio and perfect channel state information is available…

Asymptotic analysis of multicell massive MIMO over Rician fading channels

TLDR
This work considers the downlink of a multicell massive MIMO system in which L base stations of N antennas each communicate with K single-antenna user equipments randomly positioned in the coverage area to evaluate the sum rate of the system when MRT and RZF are employed.

Analysis of Multiuser Cellular Systems Over Heterogeneous Channels

TLDR
It is mathematically proven that common correlation patterns for each terminal predicts lower ergodic sum spectral efficiencies in comparison to terminal specific correlation patterns, which demonstrates the impact of space-constrained ULAs on the MU-MIMO system performance.

LMMSE Receivers in Uplink Massive MIMO Systems With Correlated Rician Fading

TLDR
The study and numerical results substantiate that stronger LoS signals lead to better performances, and under such conditions, the statistical combining entails higher SE gains than the conventional receiver.

On the Uplink of Large-Scale MIMO Systems with Correlated Ricean Fading Channels

TLDR
This work derives closed-form approximations of the achievable UL rates as a function of the system's parameters, the Ricean factors and the training sequence's length from simulations of a single-cell large-scale multi-user MIMO system.

Performance Scaling Law for Multicell Multiuser Massive MIMO

TLDR
A sum-rate lower bound is derived by exploiting the asymptotically deterministic property of the received signal power, while keeping the random nature of other components in the signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) intact.

Revisiting MMSE Combining for Massive MIMO over Heterogeneous Propagation Channels

TLDR
It is demonstrated that the SINR of a terminal can be tightly approximated by a linear combination of non-central chi-squared random variables, where the scaling depends on the individual link gains, K-factors, and eigenvalues of the terminal specific correlation matrices.

User Scheduling for Large-Scale MIMO Downlink System Over Correlated Rician Fading Channels

TLDR
Simulation results show that the proposed user scheduling algorithms perform well in achieving considerable sum rate, especially the user scheduling algorithm for single-cell multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system under correlated Rician fading channels.

Large System Analysis of Base Station Cooperation for Power Minimization

TLDR
The design of the linear precoder is considered that minimizes the total power consumption while ensuring target user rates and the total transmit power to reduce the implementation complexity in large-scale networks.

Line-of-Sight and Pilot Contamination Effects on Correlated Multi-Cell Massive MIMO Systems

TLDR
This work considers the uplink of a multi- cell massive MIMO system with L cells, having each $K$ mono-antenna users communicating with an 𝒩 −antennas base station (BS), and investigates MRC and single-cell MMSE (M-MMSE) that was recently shown to provide unbounded rates in Rayleigh fading.

Spatial Correlation Variability in Multiuser Systems

TLDR
This work shows that the widely used, yet overly simplified, correlation models which generate fixed correlation patterns for all terminals tend to underestimate the system performance of the MU-MIMO system.

Large System Analysis of Cooperative Multi-Cell Downlink Transmission via Regularized Channel Inversion with Imperfect CSIT

TLDR
This paper analyzes the ergodic sum-rate of a multi-cell downlink system with base station (BS) cooperation using regularized zero-forcing (RZF) precoding and proposes a scheme to greatly reduce the search space for optimization.

Outage performance of cooperative small-cell systems under Rician fading channels

TLDR
This work studies the fluctuations of the mutual information of this channel under the form of a central limit theorem (CLT) and provides an explicit expression of the asymptotic variance that can be used to compute an approximation of the outage probability of such channels.

Large System Analysis of Linear Precoding in Correlated MISO Broadcast Channels Under Limited Feedback

TLDR
The per-user channel correlation model requires the development of a novel deterministic equivalent of the empirical Stieltjes transform of large dimensional random matrices with generalized variance profile, and deterministic SINR approximations enable us to solve various practical optimization problems.

Power Scaling of Uplink Massive MIMO Systems With Arbitrary-Rank Channel Means

TLDR
It is found that regardless of the Ricean K-factor, in the case of perfect CSI, the approximations converge to the same constant value as the exact results, as the number of base station antennas grows large, while the transmit power of each user can be scaled down proportionally to 1/M.

Large System Analysis of Base Station Cooperation for Power Minimization

TLDR
The design of the linear precoder is considered that minimizes the total power consumption while ensuring target user rates and the total transmit power to reduce the implementation complexity in large-scale networks.

LOS-based Conjugate Beamforming and Power-Scaling Law in Massive-MIMO Systems

TLDR
Numerical results indicate that spacial antenna correlation does not have serious influence on the rate performance, and the BS antennas may be allowed to be placed compactly when M is very large, and extension to multi-cells and frequency-selective channels are also discussed shortly.

Massive MIMO in the UL/DL of Cellular Networks: How Many Antennas Do We Need?

TLDR
How many antennas per UT are needed to achieve η% of the ultimate performance limit with infinitely many antennas and how many more antennas are needed with MF and BF to achieve the performance of minimum mean-square error (MMSE) detection and regularized zero-forcing (RZF), respectively are derived.

TLDR
Lagrangian duality and large system analysis are combined to obtain concise expressions for asymptotically optimal beamformers and limiting SINRs, thereby simplifying beamformer design and comparison of the schemes.

Joint Spatial Division and Multiplexing—The Large-Scale Array Regime

TLDR
JSDM achieves significant savings both in the downlink training and in the CSIT uplink feedback, thus making the use of large antenna arrays at the base station potentially suitable also for frequency division duplexing systems, for which uplink/downlink channel reciprocity cannot be exploited.
