A short sequence based on asymmetric catalysis, chirality transfer, and an optimized carbometallation protocol gave an anti,anti stereotriad building block in six steps. Both enantiomers of the chirality source, N-methyl ephedrine, are inexpensive, and the auxiliary is recoverable.
