We present an absolute parallax and relative proper motion for the fundamental distance scale calibrator, delta Cep. We obtain these with astrometric data from FGS 3, a white-light interferometer on HST. Utilizing spectrophotometric estimates of the absolute parallaxes of our astrometric reference stars and constraining delta Cep and reference star HD 213307 to belong to the same association (Cep OB6, de Zeeuw et al. 1999), we find pi_{abs} = 3.66 +/- 0.15 mas. The larger than typical…
Astrometry with The Hubble Space Telescope: A Parallax of the Central Star of the Planetary Nebula NGC 6853*
We present an absolute parallax and relative proper motion for the central star of the planetary nebula NGC 6853 (the Dumbbell). We obtain these with astrometric data from the Fine Guidance Sensor 3,
ASTROMETRY WITH THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE: TRIGONOMETRIC PARALLAXES OF SELECTED HYADS*
We present absolute parallaxes and proper motions for seven members of the Hyades open cluster, pre-selected to lie in the core of the cluster. Our data come from archival astrometric data from fine
CONFIRMATION OF ERRORS IN HIPPARCOS PARALLAXES FROM HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE FINE GUIDANCE SENSOR ASTROMETRY OF THE PLEIADES
We present absolute trigonometric parallaxes and relative proper motions for three members of the Pleiades, obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope's Fine Guidance Sensor 1r, a white-light
Astrometry With The Hubble Space Telescope: Trigonometric Parallaxes Of Planetary Nebula Nuclei NGC 6853, NGC 7293, Abell 31, And Deht 5
We present absolute parallaxes and relative proper motions for the central stars of the planetary nebulae NGC 6853 (The Dumbbell), NGC 7293 (The Helix), Abell 31, and DeHt 5. This paper details our
Hubble Space Telescope Trigonometric Parallax of Polaris B, Companion of the Nearest Cepheid
Polaris, the nearest and brightest Cepheid, is a potential anchor point for the Leavitt period-luminosity relation. However, its distance is a matter of contention, with recent advocacy for a
A Mass for the Extrasolar Planet Gliese 876b Determined from Hubble Space Telescope Fine Guidance Sensor 3 Astrometry and High-Precision Radial Velocities*
We report the first astrometrically determined mass of an extrasolar planet, a companion previously detected by Doppler spectroscopy. Radial velocities first provided an ephemeris with which to
The Mass of HD 38529 c from Hubble Space Telescope Astrometry and High-Precision Radial Velocities
(Abridged) Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Fine Guidance Sensor astrometric observations of the G4 IV star HD 38529 are combined with the results of the analysis of extensive ground-based radial
A NEW CEPHEID DISTANCE TO THE GIANT SPIRAL M101 BASED ON IMAGE SUBTRACTION OF HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE/ADVANCED CAMERA FOR SURVEYS OBSERVATIONS
We accurately determine a new Cepheid distance to M101 (NGC 5457) using archival Hubble Space Telescope (HST)/Advanced Camera for Surveys V and I time series photometry of two fields within the
An HST parallax of the distant cataclysmic variable V1223 Sgr, its system parameters, and accretion rate
Using the Hubble space Telescope Fine Guidance Sensor, we have measured the trigonometric parallax of the bright cataclysmic variable 1223 Sgr. The absolute parallax is πabs = 1.96 ± 0.18 mas, making
Hubble Space Telescope: Snapshot Survey for Resolved Companions of Galactic Cepheids
We have conducted an imaging survey with the Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera~3 (WFC3) of 70 Galactic Cepheids, typically within 1~kpc, with the aim of finding resolved physical companions.
