MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the regulation of a variety of biological processes, such as inflammation. Dysregulation of miRNAs have been implicated in many human disease, including cardiovascular diseases. Polymorphisms in miRNA genes may affect the miRNA biogenesis and function, and thus cause changes in the expression of thousands of genes.
