Background: ABO blood group has been found to be associated with the risk of several diseases. Infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are also the major health problems worldwide. This work was therefore aimed at assessing the ABO and Rh blood group antigens and its association with HBV and HCV seroreactive status among healthy blood donors. Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional analytical study carried out in the department of Transfusion Medicine of a…

Study of serological prevalence of transfusion transmissible infections among blood donors in a tertiary care hospital in North India
TLDR
In this study, serological prevalence among apparently healthy donors was 2.01%, which varies from 0.76% to 3% in different blood group donors, and there was no association between blood group antigens and these transfusion transmissible infections.
Hepatitis B virus infection and ABO/Rh blood groups
TLDR
This study showed that there was not an association between ABO/Rh blood groups and chronic HBV infection, but there is a need for different and more numerous case-control studies about this subject.
Frequency and Association between Different ABO Blood Groups with Hepatitis C
TLDR
HCV is not significantly associated with blood group, according to a retrospective study conducted at Aziz Fatimah Hospital Faisalabad.
Incidence of HBV, HCV and HIV among blood donors from Peshawar KPK, Pakistan
TLDR
The data results suggests modest rate of incidence but more broad seroprevalance studies of the general population are needed to determine the accurate prevalence of HBV, HCV and HIV.
Risk of HBV infection among male and female first-time blood donors born before and after the July 1986 HBV vaccination program in Taiwan
TLDR
The risk of HBV was lower among those born after than those born before the July 1986 vaccination program, and the seemingly protective effect among thoseBorn after July 1986 was higher in women than men.
Evaluation of the Prevalence of Vertical - Transmission and its correlation with some Haematological variables Among Ante-natal Attendees in PortHarcourt
  • N. Golden
  • Medicine
Journal of Medical Science And clinical Research
  • 2018
TLDR
The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of vertical transmission of HIV infection among ante-natal attendees in two major hospitals in Port Harcourt and hence the effectiveness of the prevention of mother-to-child transmission programme in these centers.
Cirrhosis of liver : A novel review
TLDR
Public health nutrition assessment helps in recognizing the people which are in need of nutrition related modernizations and also involves monitoring the effectiveness of interventions programs.
Cytotoxicities of novel hydrazone compounds with pyrrolidine moiety: inhibition of mitochondrial respiration may be a possible mechanism of action for the cytotoxicity of new hydrazones
TLDR
The representative compound of series, R2, inhibited the mitochondrial respiration at 90, 165, and 265 µM concentrations in a dose dependent manner in liver homogenates, suggesting that mitochondria respiration may be one of the contributing factor to the cytotoxicity of the compounds synthesized.

The infection with HBV and HCV and their relationship to ABO blood group among blood donors
TLDR
There were a significant association between blood group of donors and hepatitis infections and the infections of HCV increase among (26-35) years old blood donors while the HBV infections increase with progress of age groups.
Association of ABO and Rh Blood Groups to Blood-Borne Infections among Blood Donors in Tehran-Iran
TLDR
Prevalence of blood-borne infections is relatively low compared with neighboring countries and the international standards, and any association between blood groups and blood- borne infections between the years of 2005 and 2011 is determined.
Possible Correlation of Transfusion Transmitted Diseases with Rh type and ABO Blood Group System.
TLDR
Seroprevalence of these infections shows that routine screening is a must for blood and blood product safe transfusion and that the NEGATIVE blood groups were more prone to TTIs.
Prevalence of antibodies to hepatitis C virus in apparently healthy Port Harcourt blood donors and association with blood groups and other risk indicators.
TLDR
There was a moderate prevalence of HCV infection (5%) in apparently healthy blood donors in Port Hartcourt, Nigeria and the prevalence was higher among commercial donors and in donors in the age bracket of 21-30 years of age.
ASSOCIATION OF BLOOD GROUP TYPES TO HEPATITIS B AND HEPATITIS C VIRUS INFECTION
TLDR
High frequency of HCV infection in blood donors needs implementation of strict screening policy for donors and public awareness campaigns about preventive measures to reduce the spread of this infection as well as other transfusion transmissible infections.
The Prevalence of Transfusion Transmitted Infections in ABO Blood Groups and Rh Type System
TLDR
The total number of Rhnegative donors is lower when compared to Rh-positive blood donors, but Rh-negative blood donors show higher percentages of seroreactivity for TTIs, according to the present study.
Frequency of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in Healthy blood donors of NWFP: A single center experience
TLDR
The results indicate that most of the patients suffering from hepatitis B and C do not realize that they have got such deadly viruses in their body and can transmit it to non infected healthy individuals via different parenteral routes including blood transfusion.
STUDIES ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF HEPATITIS B (HBV) ANDHUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) - THEIR RELATION TO BLOOD GROUPS AND RHESUS (RH) FACTOR IN GUNTUR DISTRICT OF ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA
TLDR
Female individuals showed more HIV infection in comparison with male individuals, on the other hand, maximum HBV infections was found in males, and the highest prevalence of HIV and HBV infection were found in individuals with blood group O and Rh positive.
Seroprevalence and risk factors for hepatitis B virus infection among general population in Northern India.
TLDR
It was found that variables including gender and age were significantly associated with HBsAg positivity and the prevalence of hepatitis-B infection in North Indian general population was statistically not associated with ABO blood groups.
SPECTRUM OF ABO AND RH (D) BLOOD GROUPS AMONGST THE PALESTINIANS STUDENTS AT AL-AZHAR UNIVERSITY - GAZA
The aim of the study was to evaluate the distribution of ABO and Rh (D) blood groups in a sample of 1158 students of both sexes from Al-Azhar University, Gaza, in Palestine. The blood groups
