Although depression has been associated with decreased brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels for specific personality traits, there is a little information regarding the association between peripheral BDNF levels and such traits. The sample consisted of 178 healthy Japanese subjects (age range, 37.4 ± 11.5 years). All subjects filled out the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI).
