Abstract The screening process in general psychiatric care has become more and more important as patients are not hospitalized for long periods of time. One instrument, OCAIRS, was identified as being a useful instrument for the screening process. It focuses on patients' rights and integrity and how they perceive their ability to perform daily activities. It also highlights patients' motivation for performing activities of daily living.
