OBJECTIVE To determine the clinical and prognostic value of identifying metabolic abnormalities of myocardial fatty acid metabolism in idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy using iodine-123 beta-methyl-iodophenyl pentadecanoic acid (123I BMIPP).
