Abstract The aims of this study were (1) to evaluate subjective symptoms in the hand-arm system of all traffic police motorcyclists of a city located in the central part of Japan and (2) to assess their hand-arm vibration exposure associated with traffic police motorcycle riding. The study population consisted of 119 motorcycling traffic policemen and 49 male controls. By means of a questionnaire, information on the occupational history and the presence of subjective symptoms in the hand-arm… Expand
Assessment of Hand-Arm Vibration Exposure among Motorcyclist in Malaysia
Motorcyclists are road users that highly exposed to hand-arm vibration that may contribute to body discomfort and fatigue that eventually will lead to road accidents and injuries. The two mainExpand

Risk factors analysis: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders among male traffic policemen using high-powered motorcycles
TLDR
Riding duration, years of service, and hand-arm vibration were found to be the most important risk factors for WMSDs in this rider group, highlighting that in the context of ergonomic interaction, high-powered motorcycles and the police riders are not a good fit. Expand
Ergonomic design of Nigerian motorcycle and its vibrational analysis
The process of designing single-track, engine-powered, two-wheeled motor vehicles for various task performances due to the absence of Nigerians rider's anthropometric data has been a challenge.Expand
Transmission of vibration from motorcycle handlebar to the hand
Vibration transmitted to the hand from motorcycle handlebar can cause discomfort and health issues to the motorcycle rider. The objective of this paper was to investigate the severity of vibrationExpand
A case report of vibration-induced hand comorbidities in a postwoman
TLDR
The particular set of comorbidities presented by a postwoman who delivered mail for 15 years using a low-powered motorcycle suggests a common pathophysiological basis for all the diseases. Expand
Hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) and musculoskeletal symptoms in the neck and the upper limbs in professional drivers of terrain vehicles--a cross sectional study.
TLDR
There is a relation between exposure to driving terrain vehicles and some of the symptoms of HAVS and increased odds of musculoskeletal symptoms in neck, shoulders and wrists were found, and it seemed to be related to the cumulative exposure time. Expand
Attenution of Motorcycle Handle Vibration using Suspended Handlebar
Motorcycle rider is exposed to the handle vibration. Extended exposure to high level of handle vibration can result is hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVs). In South East Asia the majority of theExpand

Mailmen's vibration hazards induced by motorcycle riding.--Results of cooling load tests.
TLDR
It is reported that the maximum vibration acceleration level on the handle bars of motorcycles on paved roads exceeds the exposure guidelines of the ISO and may be suggested that mailmen's vibration hazards induced by motorcycle riding are widespread in Japan. Expand
Epidemiological survey of shipyard workers exposed to hand-arm vibration
TLDR
Skin temperature (before and after the coldtest) are suitable for epidemiological purposes to compare the prevalence rates of VWF in control-experimental groups and well differentiated workers exposed and not exposed to vibrations. Expand
Hand-arm vibration syndrome and its prevalence in the present status of private forestry enterprises in Japan
TLDR
The elderly chain saw operators and those with longer exposure should be moved to other jobs with a lower or no risk of exposure to vibration, and the results of screening tests, even without cold water immersion, could be helpful for the identification of workers with VWF. Expand

TLDR
An investigation on vibration exposure among postal carriers using motorbikes and vibration symptom manifestations as a means to obtain information on hand-arm vibration exposure limits found the group in which daily vibration exposure was greatest showed a greater incidence of white finger than other groups. Expand
Risk assessment of vibration exposure and white fingers among platers
TLDR
The observed high risk for contracting white fingers could be prevented by exposure level reduction and/or restriction of exposure duration. Expand

TLDR
The prevalence of vibration-induced white finger (VWF) as well as the vibration exposure were investigated in various groups of workers operating hand-held vibrating tools and it was concluded that in decisions concerning quantitative recommendations for vibration exposure, the prevalence of VWF should be considered. Expand
Vibration syndrome and vibration in pedestal grinding.
TLDR
Some other feature such as the impulse character of the vibration also contributed to the effects of vibration, which was too small to explain such a dramatic outbreak of VWF. Expand
