OBJECTIVE The primary objective of this study was to assess the appropriateness of the existing Dutch clinical guidelines for the treatment of depression from a health-economic perspective. The existing guidelines recommend continuation treatment for a period up to 9 months. METHODS The assessment was based on a Markov model using decision-analytic techniques.
