Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels. This study investigated some haemostatic parameters among diabetes mellitus patients attending diabetes clinic at the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa; A tertiary health institution. One hundred and eleven individuals participated in this study, comprising 31 females and 25 males (diabetes mellitus patients) and 30 females and 25 males (control subjects). Blood was collected from the participants and…

Studies on Haemostatic Parameters of Type 2 Diabetics in Owerri, Imo State
TLDR
The increase found in acute proteins, malondialdehyde, platelet count, fibrinogen and decrease in antioxidants, prothrombin time and APTT showed that type 2 diabetics is a state of chronic low grade inflammation, increased oxidative stress and hypercoagulable state which may result in increase morbidity and premature mortality of type 2 diabetes.
Basic Coagulation Profiles and Platelet Parameters Among Adult Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Patients at Dessie Referral Hospital, Northeast Ethiopia: Comparative Cross-Sectional Study
TLDR
T2DM may be related to increased risk of thrombosis indicated by reduced PT and INR and high PDW and MPV than T1DM and controls, and basic coagulation profiles and platelet parameters should be regularly tested for early diagnosis and proper management of diabetes-related thromBosis.
Prothrombin Time Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time and Platelets Count among Hypertensive Patients Attending a Tertiary Health Institution in Yenagoa, Nigeria
TLDR
There is need for early diagnosis to avoid hemostatic complications and to aid effective management of the patients, as there were significant variations between the hypertensive and control subjects for each of the parameters.
Assessment of Some Haemostasis System BloodIndicators among the Elderly Attending a tertiaryHealth Institution in Nigeria
TLDR
The pro-thrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time showed a significant increase while blood platelets showed significant decline with ageing, which suggests possible by functioning with “ dysfunctioning of the haemostatic system.
Hemostasis Status of Some Female Students Before and After Menstruation
TLDR
No significant variation suggests no risk of hypercoagulability or coagulopathy; while platelets values before and after menstruation suggestNo risk of thrombocytosis among the age grade under study.
Assessment of some haemostatic parameters at different stages of pregnancy
TLDR
It is indicated that anaemia during pregnancy is a contributing factor to low birth weight, maternal mortality and premature birth.
Evaluation of Total White Blood Cells and Cluster of Differentiation 4 Cells among Post-Menopausal Women in Elele, Nigeria
TLDR
The results in the test subjects for both parameters were significantly lower compared to the control, suggesting that the decline in immune system related parameters among the test Subjects may predispose them at risk of multiple infections and other associated health conditions.
Pulmonary and Rifampicin-Resistant Tuberculosis Associated with Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection Prevalence in Bayelsa State, Nigeria: A Case of Patients Attending Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa
TLDR
There is the need for surveillance of drug resistance in tuberculosis which could lead strengthening of laboratory networks and enhance its prevention and control.
Some Haemostatic Indicators among Malaria Infected Adolescents Attending a Nigerian University Teaching Hospital
TLDR
In African, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, and Uganda account for substantial malaria cases and are included among the major public health problems in Sub-Sahara Africa including Nigeria.
Phytopharmacognostic Standardization of the Leaves of Buchholzia coriacea Engler. (Capparidaceae)
TLDR
The quality control parameters in the evaluation of the leaf of B. coriacea could be used to identify and authenticate both the fresh and powdered crude drug product of Buchholzia Coriacea.

Assessment of Some Coagulation Indices among Type II Diabetic Subjects in a Tertiary Facility in South West Region , Nigeria
TLDR
It is suggested that despite the popular notion of a prothrombotic tendency in diabetes, diabetics may also be prone to developing haemorrhagic complications and to incorporate PT and PTTK assay as routine investigations for better management of these patients.
Haemostatic Profile of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Northern Nigeria
TLDR
Despite the popular notion of a prothrombotic tendency in diabetes, diabetics may also be prone to developing haemonhagic complications, and to include PT, APTT, TT and fibrinogen assay as routine investigations for better management of these patients is helpful.
EFFECT OF DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE II ON ACTIVATED PARTIAL THROMBOPLASTIN TIME AND PROTHROMBIN TIME
TLDR
It may be concluded that shorted APTT confirms that T2DM is a hyper-coagulable state due to which there is increased risk of thrombotic events.
Some Haematological Parameters in Patients with Type-1 Diabetes in Sokoto, North Western Nigeria
TLDR
The packed cell volume is lower among diabetic patients compared to non-diabetics and platelet and total white cell count are significantly higher among diabetic subjects compared toNon-diabetic controls.
Association of activated partial thromboplastin time and fibrinogen level in patients with type II diabetes mellitus
TLDR
Diabetics have an increased level of fibrinogen and relatively shortened aPTT as compared to the non-diabetic patients, and test data identified in results were statistically significant.
Profile of Nigerians with diabetes mellitus – Diabcare Nigeria study group (2008): Results of a multicenter study
TLDR
Most Nigerian diabetics have suboptimal glycemic control, are hypertensives, and have chronic complications of DM, and improved quality of care and treatment to target is recommended to reduce diabetes-related morbidity and mortality.
Evaluation of Prothrombin Time and Activated Partial Thromboplastin in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus
TLDR
The finding suggest an abnormal PT and APTT in untreated patients with diabetes mellitus in untreated diabetics.
Diabetes Mellitus Is Associated with Shortened Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time and Increased Fibrinogen Values
TLDR
Shorter APTT and increased fibrinogen levels might be useful hemostatic markers in patients with diabetes and in patients at high risk for diabetes.
Associated liver enzymes with hyperlipidemic profile in type 2 diabetes patients.
TLDR
Routine screening of ALT and GGT in T2DM patients may assists early detection of liver abnormalities and to arrest the progress of disease.
Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus and Malaria Parasitaemia: Effect on Liver Function Tests
TLDR
Assessment of liver function in diabetic patients with malaria infection, hence finding the possible contribution of malaria infection of some organs to the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus shows normal liver function although alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin were slightly raised but non-significant.
