Aspergillus is a ubiquitous saprophytic fungus seldom pathogenic for normal hosts. Aspergillus osteomyelitis occurs infrequently and is typically limited to patients with predisposing factors, including leukocyte dysfunction, malignancy with neutropenia, steroid or antibiotic therapy, pulmonary aspergillosis, and surgical manipulation.
