This report questions several commonly used definitions and commonly accepted concepts. It suggest that the term, "chronic airflow obstructions," should replace the terms, "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," "chronic obstructive lung disease," or "chronic airway obstruction," because it is flow that is obstructed.
