BACKGROUND Ascorbic acid is a potent antioxidant and is involved in many metabolic activities including collagen biosynthesis. In the present investigation, ascorbic acid and lipid peroxides were monitored in the blood and liver samples during the progression of experimentally induced hepatic fibrosis.
