RECENTLY, there has been a disquieting number of reports of observations of chromatid aberrations in human lymphocytes as a result of various treatments and conditions varying from measles to X-ray1–4. Although there has been no good reason to doubt the nature of these chromatid aberrations, neither has there been a good test of whether or not their induction could be attributed to phenomena other than the agents indicated in the various reports.
