From the first-principles calculations, we have studied the electronic and magnetic structures of LaFeAsO. It is found that a large magnetic moment of similar to 2.6 mu(B) is located around each Fe ion, embedded in the environment of itinerant electrons. In the ground state, these local Fe moments are in collinearly antiferromagnetic order, resulting from the interplay between the strong nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor superexchange antiferromagnetic interactions bridged by As atoms. The…

Pnicogen-bridged antiferromagnetic superexchange interactions in iron pnictides
The first-principles electronic structure calculations made substantial contribution to study of high T(c) iron-pnictide superconductors. By the calculations, LaFeAsO was first predicted to be an
Electronic and magnetic structures of ternary iron telluride KFe2Te2
We examine the electronic and magnetic structures of iron telluride KFe2Te2 using first-principle calculations. We demonstrate that the ground state of this compound is in bicollinear
Electronic structures of ternary iron arsenides AFe2As2 (A = Ba, Ca, or Sr)
We have studied the electronic and magnetic structures of the ternary iron arsenides AFe2As2 (A = Ba, Ca, or Sr) using the first-principles density functional theory. The ground states of these
Magnetic and electronic structure in new iron-based layered SrFe1 − xCoxAsF systems
Abstract By using the first-principles calculation, we study the structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of the SrFeAsF compound and its Co-doped counterpart SrFe1 − xCoxAsF ( x = 0.125 ). It
The electronic structure and magnetism of KxFe2Se2
Abstract Within the virtual crystal approximation and J 1 – J 2 – J 3 model, the electronic structures and magnetic properties of iron-selenide K x Fe 2 Se 2 ( 0.0 ⩽ x ⩽ 1.0 ) are studied by
Pnictide-height dependent ferromagnetism in CuFeAs and CuFeSb
Abstract Electronic structures and magnetism properties of CuFeAs and CuFeSb are investigated by using first-principles calculations. We found that CuFeAs and CuFeSb share similar electronic
Electronic structure and magnetism of ThFeAsN
The electronic structure and magnetic properties of ThFeAsN, a newly discovered superconductor, are investigated by means of first-principles calculations. ThFeAsN shares electronic structure and
Magnetic fluctuation and frustration in new iron-based layered SrFe1−xCoxAsF superconductors
By using the first-principle calculations, we study structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of the SrFeAsF compound and its Co-doped counterpart SrFe1−xCoxAsF (x=0.125). It is shown that for
Effective exchange interactions for bad metals and implications for iron-based superconductors
The experimentally observed bad metal behavior in parent iron pnictides and chalcogenides suggests that these systems contain strong electronic correlations and are on the verge of a
Is the nature of magnetic order in copper-oxides and in iron-pnictides different?
We use the results of first-principles electronic structure calculations and a strong coupling perturbation approach, together with general theoretical arguments, to illustrate the differences in
