Gathering three dimensional geometric data of buildings is becoming increasingly important. Virtual 3D City Models and Building Information Models require reliable information about the inside of buildings. Floor plans are often not available, not updated or not three dimensional. Traditional surveying techniques, such as tacheometry, are too time consuming and too expensive.
