A very important part of the design of ultrasonic transducers and ultrasonic measurement systems is the selection of materials. Typically, materials must be screened on the basis of their acoustic velocity, impedance, and attenuation. The final selection of a material is based upon many other factors, such as how well it adheres to epoxy, its linearity, or how much water it absorbs.
