The article presents a conceptual framework for formal geometric reasoning with extended objects in the context of vernacular geography. Vernacular geography is concerned with place names and their relations as they are used in people's everyday vernacular language. Commonly used place names include names of land formations, landmarks, woods, water bodies or streets.
