The promoter regions of the chicken skeletal muscle alpha-actin (alpha sk-actin) and the cytoplasmic beta-actin genes were linked to the bacterial chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) gene. Replication-competent retroviral vectors were used to introduce these two actin/CAT cassettes into the chicken genome.
