We calculate the dissociation and recombination rates of $\Upsilon(1S)$ in quark-gluon plasma by using potential non-relativistic QCD. We then study the dynamical in-medium evolution of the $b\bar{b}-\Upsilon$ system in a periodic box via the Boltzmann equation and explore how the system reaches equilibrium. We find that interactions between the free heavy quarks and the medium are necessary for the system to reach equilibrium. We find that the angular distribution of $\Upsilon(1S)$ probes the…

Coupled Boltzmann transport equations of heavy quarks and quarkonia in quark-gluon plasma

We develop a framework of coupled transport equations for open heavy flavor and quarkonium states, in order to describe their transport inside the quark-gluon plasma. Our framework is capable of

Heavy quarkonium suppression in a fireball

We perform a comprehensive study of the time evolution of heavy-quarkonium states in an expanding hot QCD medium by implementing effective field theory techniques in the framework of open quantum

Quarkonium in-medium transport equation derived from first principles

We use the open quantum system formalism to study the dynamical in-medium evolution of quarkonium. The system of quarkonium is described by potential nonrelativistic QCD while the environment is a

Quantum and classical dynamics of heavy quarks in a quark-gluon plasma

A bstractWe derive equations for the time evolution of the reduced density matrix of a collection of heavy quarks and antiquarks immersed in a quark gluon plasma. These equations, in their original

Quarkonium inside the quark-gluon plasma: Diffusion, dissociation, recombination, and energy loss

We consider the quarkonium diffusion, dissociation and recombination inside a quark-gluon plasma. We compute scattering amplitudes in potential nonrelativistic QCD for relevant processes. These

Flavor dependence of the thermal dissociations of vector and axial-vector mesons

The in-medium behavior of ground-state $q\bar{q}$ mesons, where $q \in \{u,d,s,c\}$, in vector and axial-vector channels is studied based on the spectral analysis for mesonic correlators at finite

Quarkonium suppression in heavy-ion collisions: An open quantum system approach

We address the evolution of heavy-quarkonium states in an expanding quark-gluon plasma by implementing effective field theory techniques in the framework of open quantum systems. In this setting we

Color Screening and Regeneration of Bottomonia in High-Energy Heavy-Ion Collisions

The production of ground-state and excited bottomonia in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions is investigated within a kinetic-rate equation approach including regeneration. We augment our previous

Stochastic potential and quantum decoherence of heavy quarkonium in the quark-gluon plasma

We propose an open quantum systems approach to the physics of heavy quarkonia in a thermal medium, based on stochastic quantum evolution. This description emphasizes the importance of collisions with

Fate of in-medium heavy quarks via a Lindblad equation

A bstractWhat is the dynamics of heavy quarks and antiquarks in a quark gluon plasma? Can heavy-quark bound states dissociate? Can they (re)combine? These questions are addressed by investigating a

Thermal width and quarkonium dissociation by inelastic parton scattering

A bstractIn a weak-coupling effective field theory framework we study quarkonium dis-sociation induced by inelastic scattering with partons in the medium. This is the dominant dissociation process

Charmonium in strongly-coupled quark-gluon plasma

The growing consensus that a strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma (sQGP) has been observed at the SPS and RHIC experiments suggests a different framework for examining heavy-quark dynamics. We present

Thermal width and gluo-dissociation of quarkonium in pNRQCD

A bstractThe thermal width of heavy-quarkonium bound states in a quark-gluon plasma has been recently derived in an effective field theory approach. Two phenomena contribute to the width: the Landau
