In this paper, we present an application of soft computing into a decision support system RETS: Rheumatic Evaluation and Treatment System in Oriental Medicine (OM). Inputs of the system are severities of observed symptoms on patients and outputs are a diagnosis of rheumatic states, its explanations and herbal prescriptions. First, an outline of the proposed decision support system is described after considering rheumatic diagnoses and prescriptions by OM doctors. Next, diagnosis by fuzzy…

Development of Decision Support System for the Diagnosis of Arthritis Pain for Rheumatic Fever Patients: Based on the Fuzzy Approach

This paper describes how fuzzy logic could be applied to the development of a DSS application that could be used for diagnosing arthritis pain (arthritis pain for rheumatic fever patients only) in four different stages, namely: Fairly Mild, Mild, Moderate and Severe.

Use of Fuzzy Logic Based Decision Support Systems in Medicine

FL-based DSS has been providing a significant contribution to disease diagnosis in the examined studies, and different applications used in the medicine field have been given.

Optimization of Two-Stage Fuzzy Controller using a differential evolution algorithm for the line tracing car

This research was able to verify that fuzzy control can be applicable to a line tracing car, which is running at a high speed, and compare the results between the fuzzy controller and the auto-tuned controller using a DE.

RENOIR: An expert system using fuzzy logic for rheumatology diagnosis

A new expert system to aid the nonspecialist physician in diagnosing arthritis and collagen diseases has been developed and a first validation process has shown good performance of the ES compared to 12 physicians with diverse levels of experience in rheumatic diseases.

[New approaches to computer-assisted diagnosis of rheumatologic diseases].

The goal of this paper is to describe the current research toward the development of the on-line expert system Cadiag-4/Rheuma-Radio, an early prototype of which was tested on radiological disorders of the hip joint related to rheumatological diseases.

The necessity of applying Fuzzy set theory as a mathematical tool to the model building, the formulation of membership function, the adoption of floating threshold method in the course of diagnosis, etc. is expounded.

The author describes the diagnosis process of oriental traditional medicine (OTM) using compositions of rules as an inference mechanism model of the BienChung system of OTM, which accepts fuzzy descriptions of the patient's symptoms and their fuzzy relationships in the form of rules and the negation of rules.

Adaptation and abstraction as steps towards case-based reasoning in the real medical world: case-based selection strategies for antibiotics therapy.

An approach to making suitable case-based reasoning methods for real medical world problems, which chooses therapy advice as antibiotics for patients in an intensive care unit, who have an infectious disease as an additional complication.

Artificial Intelligence: A Guide to Intelligent Systems

The book demonstrates that most ideas behind intelligent systems are simple and straightforward, and the reader needs no prerequisites associated with knowledge of any programming language.

A Fuzzy Clustering Based Selection Method to Maintain Diversity in Genetic Algorithms

A fuzzy clustering based selection method is proposed to maintain the diversity and apply the selection method to genetic algorithm (GA) and it is found that the GA makes the individuals widely distributed in a solution space.
