Viscoelastic measurements were obtained as a function of time for sodium montmorillonite dispersions at various pH values and clay concentrations. The storage modulus G′ follows an exponential increase with time and the data were used to obtain the modulus at t = ∞(G′t→∞). Log-log plots of G′t→∞ versus C (the clay concentration) showed a power law dependence with an exponent in the region of 4–5.
