Atomic-absorption analysis using a graphite furnace is a powerful technique for the determination of nanogram amounts of iron. It can be applied to the determination of traces of iron in gold and silver. These metals may be removed from solution by reduction to metallic gold and precipitation as silver chloride respectively.
